Get the Power Back.

Fuel system problems rarely arrive all at once. Deposits build on injectors, a filter slowly restricts, carbon collects on intake valves, and the engine gets a little rougher and a little thirstier over a couple of years. Most drivers stop noticing because it happened so gradually.

At Blue Mountain AutoPro in Port Coquitlam we diagnose before we clean. A scan and a fuel pressure test tell us whether you have a delivery problem, a mixture problem, or something that only looks like one, so the work you pay for is the work that fixes it.

Signs Your Fuel System Needs Attention

  • Rough idle, or an idle that surges up and down
  • Hesitation or a stumble when you accelerate
  • Hard starting, especially after sitting overnight
  • Fuel economy noticeably worse than it used to be
  • Check engine light with misfire, lean, or rich codes
  • Loss of power under load or climbing a hill
  • Whining noise from the fuel tank area
  • Strong fuel smell around the vehicle

What We Do

  • Fuel pressure & volume testing: Where diagnosis starts
  • Injector cleaning: On-vehicle service, plus flow testing
  • Fuel filter replacement: To manufacturer specification
  • Fuel pump diagnosis: Tested before it is replaced
  • Throttle body cleaning: Restores smooth idle and throttle response
  • Induction service: Carbon removal for direct-injection engines
  • Fuel line inspection: Leaks, corrosion, and chafing
  • Tank & sending unit diagnosis: Including inaccurate fuel gauges

Running Rough? Start With a Test

We diagnose the fuel system before recommending any cleaning or parts, so you are not paying for a service your engine did not need.

Misfire or Check Engine Light?

Fuel, ignition, and air faults produce similar symptoms. A full scan separates them before any parts get replaced.

Small Restriction, Real Cost

Recover Lost Fuel Economy

Dirty injectors and a restricted filter make the engine work harder for the same result. At current pump prices that difference adds up over a year of commuting.

Protect the Fuel Pump

A clogged filter forces the pump to strain against the restriction. Replacing an inexpensive filter on schedule is what keeps you from replacing the pump early.

Direct Injection Needs It

Modern direct-injection engines are far more prone to intake valve carbon than older port-injected designs. It is a known characteristic, not a defect, and it is serviceable.

Stop Chasing the Misfire

A weak injector and a bad coil feel identical from the driver's seat. Testing tells them apart, which is cheaper than replacing both and hoping.

Common Fuel System Questions

How often should the fuel filter be replaced?
It varies widely by vehicle. Some manufacturers specify an interval around 50,000 to 100,000 km, while many modern vehicles use an in-tank filter designed to last much longer. We check what your manufacturer actually calls for rather than working to a generic schedule.
Do the fuel injector cleaners sold at parts stores work?
A bottle in the tank can help with light deposits and is not a bad habit between services. It will not clear a badly clogged injector or remove carbon from the back of intake valves on a direct-injection engine, because the fuel never touches them. Those need service on the vehicle.
What are the signs of a failing fuel pump?
Hard starting, a whine from the fuel tank area, sputtering at highway speed, loss of power climbing a hill, or a stall that clears after the vehicle sits. We confirm it with a fuel pressure and volume test rather than replacing the pump on symptoms alone.
Why does a direct-injection engine need intake cleaning?
On a direct-injection engine, fuel is sprayed straight into the cylinder, so it never washes over the intake valves the way it does in a port-injected engine. Carbon builds up on those valves over time and causes rough idle, misfires, and lost power. Cleaning it requires an induction service.
Can a fuel system problem cause a check engine light?
Very commonly. A weak pump, a clogged filter, or a leaking injector changes the air-fuel mixture, and the engine computer logs lean, rich, or misfire codes. That is why we start with a scan and a fuel pressure test instead of guessing.
