Nissan Leaf Service

Nissan Leaf Service — Gen 1, Gen 2 & Leaf Plus

The Leaf is one of the most proven EVs ever built. Whether you're driving a 2013 Leaf with 100,000 km or a 2022 Leaf Plus, our NexDrive team keeps it running strong.

The Leaf Is Simple — Keep It That Way

The Nissan Leaf is one of the most straightforward EVs to own and service. With no oil to change, fewer moving parts, and a simple drivetrain, the Leaf's maintenance needs are genuinely minimal. But they're not zero.

Brake service matters more on a Leaf than on many other EVs — older Leaf generations use less aggressive regenerative braking, so friction brakes do more work. Battery capacity is the most common Leaf concern; we read BMS data to give you an exact state-of-health reading, backed by the NAPA 3 year/60,000 km warranty on our repairs.

As a NAPA NexDrive VoltScore partner, we also offer certified VoltScore battery health reports for the Leaf — an independent read on degradation, failure risk, and cell balance that goes beyond a standard BMS reading, especially valuable on older Leaf generations known for capacity loss.

Nissan Leaf Services We Perform:

Book Leaf Service

Battery Capacity Check

Exact SoH reading from BMS data, plus VoltScore battery health testing for a certified report on degradation and premature failure risk. Know your real-world range potential before you need to guess.

Brake Service

Pads, rotors, calipers, and brake fluid. Annual brake inspection recommended for high-mileage Leaves.

12V Auxiliary Battery

The Leaf's 12V battery powers accessories and control systems. We test it at every visit and replace when needed.

Tires & Alignment

Low-rolling-resistance tires in 17" or 18" fitment. Alignment included with installation.

Drive Unit Service

Reduction gear oil inspection for the Leaf's drive unit — changed if contaminated or worn, plus mount and seal check.

Leaf Service Questions

Can the Nissan Leaf be serviced at an independent shop?
Yes. Most Leaf maintenance — brake service, tire installation, 12V battery replacement, alignment, and battery capacity checks — can be performed at NexDrive in Port Coquitlam. We're equipped with professional EV diagnostic tools for all Leaf generations.
How do I check my Nissan Leaf battery health?
The Leaf displays SoH as a bar graph on the dashboard (12 bars = 100%). Our diagnostic tools read the exact SoH percentage directly from the BMS — more precise than the bar display. Leaves with 9+ bars / 75%+ SoH still have plenty of useful life for typical daily driving.
Does the Nissan Leaf have a liquid cooling system?
Gen 1 and standard Gen 2 Leaves use passive air cooling — no liquid thermal management. This is manageable in BC's temperate climate with moderate fast-charge use. The Leaf Plus (60 kWh) has an improved design. We perform battery health checks and inspections for all Leaf versions.
How often do Nissan Leaf brakes need service?
More frequently than many newer EVs. The Leaf uses e-Pedal (one-pedal driving) which is regen-based, but the default driving mode still uses friction brakes significantly more than vehicles with stronger regen. We recommend a brake inspection every 2 years or 40,000 km.
